Owner Spotlight: Amiel Jelinek
I’m Amiel Jelinek, a licensed mortgage broker in Hamilton, ON.
I look forward to sharing my story. I hope that you will enjoy getting to know me better.
Part way through my previous career in engineering, I started investing in real estate and eventually made investing my full-time job. I got my mortgage license because we were purchasing a lot of rental properties and wanted to understand more about the process. Furthermore, I wanted to help other investors achieve the same success I did.
I started as a mortgage broker in 2014, however, I’ve been investing in real estate since 2006 and have a great deal of experience purchasing rental property. I’ve purchased property everywhere, from single family homes, up to a multi-million dollar ninety-unit apartment building. To this day, I am still an active real estate investor.
When I first started, I was learning the ropes as there is a lot to learn and understand in this business. Over the past couple of years, I have focused on striving to provide a worry and pain-free process for my clients. I am also very focused on my clients’ long-term goals and building a strategy towards early retirement for them.
I find helping my clients succeed is the most enjoyable part of my work. When I see that we’ve been able to help a client purchase their first rental property, or buy their first home, and hear the excitement in their voice, I’m overjoyed.
My business philosophy is all about education. I use my experience and knowledge to educate my clients so they can make an informed decision, not just for today but for their future, right up to retirement and beyond.
As an individual, I believe what sets me apart from the others are my values of integrity, creativity, education, planning, and excellent communication. I attribute my success to my easy going nature and willingness to educate my clients.
There have been many satisfying moments in my mortgage brokering career, and I’d like to share two with you. First was helping a single mom start a rent to own program, watching her throughout her three-year term and helping her obtain financing at the end of her term to purchase the home herself. She called me crying with happiness when she “officially” got her keys. The second was creating an investment plan that would help a couple retire within the next ten years, they were only thirty-two at the time and both had expected to retire when they were 65. Both these instances have given me immense satisfaction.
When I am not at work, I spend most of my time with my wife and two children. During the summer we like spending time at our cottage in Algonquin Park. I also relish building and woodworking. My last project was a huge shed with a kids’ tree-house, complete with rope ladder and slide. The kids love it!
Knowing families that have been through tremendous hardship, I am a huge supporter of the Sick Kids hospital in Toronto. I am also a very big supporter of all the local businesses and organizations here in Waterdown, ON.
I have enjoyed sharing my story about the things which matter to me and how they influence the way I do business.
